Handloom wonders-Narayanpet Sarees

The beauty of a Narayanpet saree lies in its simplicity. With a history that dates back to 1630 AD, narayanpet boast of being endorsed by the Maratha ruler- Shivaji Maharaj. Narayanpet is a small town in Telangana state where the main source of livelihood for the people is weaving. Narayanpet saree is made in silk and cotton. The uniqueness of this sari is the checks pattern on the body and temple design on the borders which signifies the spiritual nature of the artisans.

Dyed in vegetable dyes, unlike usual saree weaving where in 7 yards are woven in one stretch, narayanpet saree is woven in 56 yards length. So at a go 8 sarees are woven. This is one wonder that should adorn every wardrobe!
